Peng Kueh Mold

This mold is used to make Peng Kueh or “Peach Dumplings”.  Peng Kueh is a Teochew glutinous rice cake.  The paisley design is actually a peach shape which symbolizes long life and prosperity.  The mold also contains an incised turtle motif which represents longevity.

In Chinese legend, the peach has long been a symbol of longevity and is seen during ceremonious occasions.   But, the peach season is so short lived that dumplings such as the Peng Kuehs are used when peaches are not in season.  Nowadays, this dumping is still made and eaten because it is so healthy and delicious.  It is commonly enjoyed as a snack, dim sum or for breakfast.

Dimensions: Longest portion of mold cavity: 3.5 inches.  Widest part of mold cavity: 3 inches.  Mold tapers from bottom to the top.
